Two-year civics education funding with oversight

Beginning July 1, 2025, the state gives $250,000 in FY 2025–2026 and $250,000 in FY 2026–2027 to the Nevada Center for Civic Engagement. The money supports civics education in elementary, junior high, middle, and high schools and expands adult civics programs, including National History Day, Civics in Action Summit, KidsVention, and We the People. When the Center accepts the money, it must report to the Interim Finance Committee by December 18, 2026 on spending through December 1, 2026, and send a final report by September 17, 2027 on spending through June 30, 2027. On request, the Legislative Auditor can review all needed records. Any balance cannot be committed after June 30 of each fiscal year. Unspent FY 2025–2026 funds must revert to the State General Fund by September 18, 2026; unspent FY 2026–2027 funds must revert by September 17, 2027.
