New cleft care team for kids

The law gives $1,314,000 to the UNLV School of Dental Medicine to create a cleft and craniofacial team. The team must be approved by the American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association. The clinic is open at least 4 hours for at least 1 day each month, and 8 hours for 2 days if need and resources allow. The team must serve children under age 3, and can also serve ages 3 to 17 with special needs if resources are available. The team works with other Nevada colleges and groups to support care.

Spending deadlines for cleft care funds

UNLV and any group it funds cannot commit any remaining money after June 30, 2027. They cannot spend any of the appropriation after September 17, 2027. Any money left must go back to the State General Fund by September 17, 2027. These limits apply to UNLV School of Dental Medicine and any entity that gets the funds.
