New funds to replace Nevada Education Department computers

The law funds the Nevada Department of Education to replace computers and software across many offices. It provides set amounts in FY 2025–26 and FY 2026–27, such as $13,180 each year for the Superintendent’s Office and $45,296 in FY 2026–27 for Student and School Support. Data Systems Management gets $11,252 in FY 2025–26 and $16,075 in FY 2026–27, plus $4,731 to replace office chairs. Most money is available beginning July 1, 2025; the Alternative Schools money starts July 1, 2026. The law also lets the Department use other funds for the same needs: $6,198 for Continuing Education, and $9,536 in FY 2025–26 and $2,384 in FY 2026–27 for Early Learning.

Strict spend-by dates for education tech funds

The law sets hard deadlines for these appropriations. Money cannot be committed after June 30, 2027. It cannot be spent after September 17, 2027. Any remaining balance must be returned to the original fund by September 17, 2027. These rules also apply to any group that receives transfers or grants from this money.
