Equipment and IT upgrades for trainers

The law upgrades training equipment and computer systems for the Public Safety Training Division. It provides $41,725 in FY2025-26 and $665 in FY2026-27 from the State Highway Fund for computer hardware and software. It adds $3,293 from the State General Fund for training equipment and $3,427 from the State Highway Fund for training pistols. It also provides $40,089 in FY2025-26 and $639 in FY2026-27 from the General Fund for related training needs. Money for each fiscal year cannot be committed after June 30 of that year; any unspent FY2025-26 funds must be returned by September 18, 2026, and any unspent FY2026-27 funds by September 17, 2027. The two smaller equipment items cannot be committed after June 30, 2027, and any remainder must be returned by September 17, 2027. Funding starts July 1, 2025.

Training academy upkeep and dorm upgrades

The law funds upkeep at the Public Safety training facility in Carson City. From the State General Fund, it provides $12,985 in FY2025-26 and $42,042 in FY2026-27 for building maintenance, and $6,718 each year for janitorial and landscaping. From the State Highway Fund, it provides $13,515 in FY2025-26 and $43,758 in FY2026-27 for building maintenance, and $6,992 each year for janitorial and landscaping. It also replaces dorm beds and mattresses with $7,739 each year from the General Fund and $8,054 each year from the Highway Fund. Money for each fiscal year cannot be committed after June 30 of that year. Any unspent FY2025-26 funds cannot be spent after September 18, 2026 and must be returned by that date; any unspent FY2026-27 funds cannot be spent after September 17, 2027 and must be returned by that date. Funding starts July 1, 2025.
