Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 1 mixed.

Classroom supply help for teachers and staff

The law gives $15 million to the Nevada Department of Education for a one-time classroom supplies program. K–12 teachers and specialized instructional support staff can request needed supplies and materials. The Department must contract with groups that buy and send the supplies after a request. Specialized staff includes counselors, psychologists, social workers, nurses, speech-language pathologists, and library media specialists.

Spending caps and deadlines for program funds

The Department cannot spend more than $7.5 million in FY 2025-2026. No funds can be promised after June 30, 2027. Money left cannot be spent after September 17, 2027 and must return to the State General Fund by that date.

Per-person $500 limit on supplies

The program can spend up to $500 in grant funds per person. You may ask for more, but any amount over $500 must come from other, non-grant money.
