Oklahoma veterinary board continues through 2030

The law re-creates Oklahoma’s State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners and extends its termination date to July 1, 2030. The board continues checking veterinarians’ initial and ongoing fitness to practice and enforcing laws against unlawful or unlicensed practice. Its main duty is protecting the public from improper, incompetent, unprofessional, and unlawful veterinary care. Board and committee members cannot take part in decisions affecting their own personal, professional, or financial interests. This rule also covers relatives within the third degree by blood, marriage, or adoption, and business or professional associates. With legal counsel’s advice, the board must adopt and review a conflict-of-interest policy each year. The Governmental Tort Claims Act governs liability for board members and employees acting within their duties.
