Oklahoma changes who certifies measurement standards
Beginning November 1, 2025, Oklahoma requires a qualified laboratory to certify its reference standards for weights and measures. This replaces the requirement to use the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The Bureau of Standards director must keep reference standards in good order and maintain methods for weighing, measuring, and testing. Federally supplied weights and measures, including future ones, remain the basis for state standards once a qualified laboratory certifies them. The state continues to supply copies of its standards and related measuring equipment to carry out these rules.
