Oklahoma’s Office of Juvenile System Oversight must inspect and investigate wrongdoing in children’s services when the state’s children and youth commission directs it. The law removes separate duties to report on that work, inquire into concerns, and monitor specific system-wide issues. The Office must conduct at least one, but no more than two, regular unannounced inspections annually at state-run children’s facilities. It can also inspect private children’s facilities receiving state or federal money, regularly or as needed. It must investigate complaints filed with it about children’s services and has access to all system facilities for inspections and investigations.
