Older military vehicles qualify for registration

Beginning November 1, 2025, military surplus vehicles no longer have to be less than 35 years old to qualify. They must have three or fewer axles, meet size and weight limits, and use wheels rather than tracks. They must have been built for U.S. forces or a country that belonged to NATO when they were built. They must also have civilian-sale approval, required equipment, and safety belts or shoulder harnesses for each occupant. Owners owe no expired-registration penalty for November 1, 2022, through November 1, 2025, if age alone prevented getting a tag. This exemption covers that penalty, not registration fees.

Military surplus owners must register road vehicles

Beginning November 1, 2025, owners must register military surplus vehicles driven on Oklahoma streets or highways as motor vehicles. These vehicles can be used like comparable civilian vehicles, but cannot carry people for hire. This provision does not state a registration fee amount.
