School sports associations must be open
Beginning July 1, 2026, Oklahoma public schools can join an athletic association only if it adopts a written transparency policy. The policy must open association records under the Oklahoma Open Records Act. All meetings and hearings must follow the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act, including notices, agendas, votes, and executive sessions. The association must have yearly financial and compliance audits under the Oklahoma Public School Audit Law. It also must have a performance audit every five years by December 31; the schedule began in 2014.
