Optional Route 66 Plates Carry Annual Fees
Beginning July 1, 2026, the law authorizes an optional Route 66 Centennial plate supporting the Oklahoma Route 66 Association. Plates can display one to seven letters or numbers, and motorcycle plates can use a similar or redesigned format. The design requires input from the Oklahoma Route 66 Centennial Commission. The licensing agreement pays the Association no more than $20 per plate issued. Annual renewal costs $35 plus regular registration fees; $20 supports the designated plate fund and $8 supports Service Oklahoma administration.
