New continuing education rules for Oklahoma funeral licenses

Beginning November 1, 2026, Oklahoma funeral licensees must complete continuing education in the 12 months before the license term and submit proof to the Oklahoma Funeral Board. The Board sets the number of hours and the required subjects by rule. Courses can be approved by the Oklahoma Funeral Board, the Oklahoma Funeral Directors Association, or the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. The Board keeps a list of approved courses and does not issue an active renewal or reactivate a license until the education is done. Exemptions apply during inactive status, for nonresidents not practicing in Oklahoma, and for licensees or classes the Board exempts by rule.
