The law treats qualifying ambulance services as essential services only for federal funding eligibility. This covers services managed by cities, counties, ambulance service districts, tribal entities, or other public entities. Contracted services also qualify when licensed in Oklahoma for 911 response and in good standing with the public entity. Their contracts must cover 911 service within the area defined by the contract. Contracted services must use grants obtained under this law only for district grant awards and the contract-defined grant application. The law awards no money and sets no funding amount. It took effect immediately upon passage and approval.
