Oklahoma vehicle lenders now have 45 days after the lien form date to file, up from 25 days. They must deliver the lien form, required fee, title or title application, and manufacturer's certificate of origin. These materials go to Service Oklahoma or a licensed operator. On-time filing makes the lender's claim legally protected starting on the date the lien form was signed. For late filings, that protection starts on the delivery date.
Licensed used vehicle dealers must now request an extra lien release copy in writing; it is no longer sent automatically. This applies when the vehicle was transferred to the dealer and the dealer paid off the secured debt. The lender must mail the extra copy within seven business days after receiving the written request.
