Broader opioid grants include state colleges

Beginning November 1, 2025, opioid grants can fund activities allowed by opioid settlement agreements involving Oklahoma. Covered activities must have occurred on or after January 1, 2015. Boards of regents or trustees of institutions in The Oklahoma State System of Higher Education can also apply. Their institution must be affected by the opioid crisis; eligibility does not guarantee an award.

More flexibility in local opioid grants

Beginning November 1, 2025, the Opioid Abatement Board can grant accrued fund money without waiting for balances left after initial awards. This grant clause also drops its express approved-use limit, and the Board can set added allocation criteria. The Purdue fund now means Purdue settlement money designated for qualifying public bodies that signed the required legal claims release. This replaces the old definition of $12.5 million plus interest received from the Revive Oklahoma Health Foundation. No new fund total or individual award amount is set.

Statewide opioid projects gain funding authority

Beginning November 1, 2025, Oklahoma's Attorney General can use opioid fund money for statewide projects addressing opioid harm. The amount cannot exceed 10% of money appropriated to the Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Revolving Fund. Each project must be an approved use under the opioid grants law and receive Opioid Abatement Board approval.
