Oklahoma removes one rape-related sentencing reference

Beginning November 1, 2025, Oklahoma removes section 1115 from the first-degree rape references in its 85% prison-service rule. A conviction under that section no longer triggers the rule based on that reference alone. First-degree rape under sections 1111 and 1114 remains covered.

More Oklahoma offenses face longer parole waits

Beginning November 1, 2025, Oklahoma expands its 85% prison-service rule to child sexual abuse material offenses under section 1040.12a. It also adds firing a gun at or into a home or public or business building under section 1289.17A. The firearm rule includes attempts, conspiracies, and asking someone else to commit the crime. People convicted of covered offenses must serve at least 85% of their prison sentence before being considered for parole. Earned credits and other sentence credits cannot reduce time served below that minimum.
