Renters can end fixed-term leases early

When your landlord gives an end-of-term termination notice under Oregon law (ORS 90.427(5)), you can end your fixed-term lease. Send written notice and pick a date at least 30 days after the landlord’s notice was delivered. Your chosen date can be before the original lease end. If you end the lease this way and return possession, the landlord cannot charge the fee in ORS 90.302(2)(e) or collect rent after your chosen date. This applies only to fixed-term leases signed on or after the law’s effective date.
