Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 0 costs, 2 mixed.

Acupuncturist title protected; protocol access preserved

Beginning March 1, 2026, you cannot call yourself an acupuncturist unless you hold an Oregon acupuncture license. This protects patients from false claims. The law also says nothing in these sections blocks the five‑needle protocol when it follows the new rules.

Registry, safety, and checks for five-needle providers

Beginning March 1, 2026, only registered individuals or Oregon‑licensed acupuncturists may provide the five‑needle ear protocol. The Oregon Medical Board runs a registry and sets training, sanitation, safe‑practice, and renewal rules. The board can charge application and renewal fees and can require fingerprints for state or national background checks. Anyone can file a complaint; the board verifies it, and registrants get a contested‑case hearing unless they admit the facts.
