Grants for Oregon port planning and marketing

The law lets the Oregon Infrastructure Finance Authority give grants, when money is available, to public ports in Oregon for planning or marketing tied to trade and commerce. Ports apply to the Port Planning and Marketing Fund with required information, and the Authority checks eligibility under state rules. If a project is not eligible, the Authority rejects the application or asks for more information within 60 days. The Authority approves a grant only if the project meets its standards and funding is available. Instead of cash, the Authority may buy goods or services to help a port carry out an approved project.

Caps and limits on port grants

Grants can pay no more than 75% of a project’s total cost. Each award also cannot exceed a dollar cap set by the Oregon Business Development Department. The Authority cannot use this program to subsidize regular port operating expenses or day‑to‑day costs.
