Oregon small-claims defendants now have 30 days after service to pay or respond, up from 14 days. They can request a hearing and make a counterclaim. More claims qualify for jury trials because identified interest before judgment or award, fees, and costs count toward the threshold. The total must exceed $750, and defendants must deny the claim and submit a written jury request. Jury requests under ORS 55.065 also require the prescribed appearance and trial fees.
