Cheaper Fishing Licenses for Disabled Veterans
Beginning 60 days after enactment, Pennsylvania veterans with a 60%–99% service-connected disability rating can get resident fishing licenses for $1. Veterans with a 100% rating can get free resident licenses, including lifetime licenses, without proving their disability is permanent. Veterans must meet state resident-license qualifications and submit their VA disability rating letter. Eligible disabled veterans and former prisoners of war can also get a senior resident lifetime fishing license for $1. These applicants must meet the state-law qualifications for their group and apply through the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission or a county treasurer.
Deployed Guard and Reservists Get $1 Licenses
Beginning 60 days after enactment, qualifying Pennsylvania National Guard and reserve members can get an annual resident fishing license for $1. Members must meet Pennsylvania resident-license qualifications and document an overseas deployment within the previous 24 months. The deployment must last at least 60 consecutive days. Early release because of a line-of-duty injury or disease excuses the 60-day minimum, but not the 24-month window. Only one discounted annual license is available per qualifying deployment.
