Higher vehicle fees for waste operators

The Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation raises its facility fee from $3 to $6 per vehicle, paid by vehicle operators. Vehicles carrying municipal solid waste remain exempt. The corporation sends collected vehicle fees to Johnston once a year instead of twice a year. This payment schedule changes when Johnston receives the money, not the amount owed. Household waste costs may rise if operators pass along the higher fee.
