Woonsocket gets a higher tax limit

Effective upon passage, the law gives Woonsocket an exception to other local tax limits for one fiscal year. The city can collect up to 5.5% more in total taxes than it levied and certified the prior year. The law does not require the full increase or set a specific increase for any household. Local taxpayers may pay more if the city uses this authority.
