Parity rule excludes TennCare and CoverKids
Starting January 1, 2027, the equal-payment rule does not apply to TennCare or CoverKids. These public plans can keep their own coding and payment rules for chiropractic services. If you are on TennCare or CoverKids, this law does not change how those plans pay chiropractors.
Equal pay rules for chiropractic doctors
Starting January 1, 2027, private health plans must pay chiropractic physicians the same way as other physicians for listed services. The service must be in a nationally recognized code book the plan uses. Plans cannot make chiropractic-only billing codes or payment methods outside that book. Plans may still use national RVUs. The law also points to the AMA CPT code book.
All changes start January 1, 2027
This law takes effect January 1, 2027. All parts start then unless a part names a different date.
