Child abuse now a felony charge

Beginning July 1, 2025, Tennessee changes the listed child abuse offense from a Class A misdemeanor to a Class E felony. The change applies only to crimes committed on or after July 1, 2025. People who commit this offense face felony prosecution, tougher penalties, and long-term legal consequences.
