Cities with AAA rating can partner on sports facilities

Cities with a general law city manager-commission charter can contract with private companies to build or run indoor or outdoor sports venues. Contracts can share operating money or losses, lease or sell part of a venue, or pay management fees. Only cities that had an AAA bond rating on the law’s effective date can use this power. This can bring private investment and new amenities, but it can also shift costs or lead to user fees. This law is now in effect.
