Revenue Department now handles insurance proof

Beginning January 1, 2026, the Tennessee Department of Revenue handles proof of financial responsibility for drivers. The law moves this role from the Department of Safety. It does not change insurance requirements, coverage levels, or penalties. Use the Department of Revenue for questions or filings about proof starting on that date.
