Homeowners get notice before abandoned-mine liens

The state must notify a property owner before filing an abandoned-mine cleanup lien. The notice must say a lien is planned and list the dollar amount. You can avoid the lien by paying that amount to the department before it files. If you pay in time, the lien is not recorded. This law is now in effect.
