New park grant match rules for cities and counties

Beginning October 1, 2025, cities and counties that get a local parks land acquisition grant must put up a local match equal to the grant amount for each project. If the project is in a county the Appalachian Regional Commission lists as distressed or at-risk when you apply, the local match is 25% of the project cost. The county’s distressed or at-risk status is determined at the time of the grant application.
