Lower park grant costs for struggling counties
Beginning October 1, 2025, Tennessee counties and cities generally must match local parks land acquisition grants dollar for dollar. For qualifying projects, the required local match is lower: 25% of total project cost. The project must be in a county designated distressed or at-risk by the Appalachian Regional Commission when the grant application is made. This lowers local funding needs for qualifying park projects; it does not provide direct payments to households.

SB 2733, AN ACT to amend Chapter 33 of the Private Acts of 1985; as amended by Chapter 85 of the Private Acts of 2004; and any other acts amendatory thereto, relative to the City of Gleason.
