The law adds four state natural areas. Clifty Creek Gorge protects about 89 acres in Morgan County and habitat for the threatened Virginia spirea. Rocky Hill protects about 1 acre in Rutherford County for the state‑endangered running glade clover and cedar glades. Union Grove protects about 59 acres in Hamblen County with high‑quality forests, headwater streams, and the state‑endangered Tennessee trillium. Versailles Knob protects about 40 acres in Rutherford County for the federally endangered Braun’s Rockcress on limestone outcrops. These designations take effect upon becoming a law.
The law enlarges nine existing state natural areas and updates one name. Barnett’s Woods is now “Barnett’s Woods and Prairie” and grows from 40 to 156 acres. It also raises listed acreages as follows: 16.5 to 41 acres for one site; 2,690 to 2,754; 140 to 627; 846 to 928; 249 to 273; 3,000 to 3,600; 1,367 to 1,388; and 428 to 476 acres. These updates take effect upon becoming a law.
