Drone deer recovery rules for Tennessee hunters
Beginning July 1, 2025, Tennessee’s wildlife commission can adopt rules and issue proclamations for drone-assisted deer recovery. This authority covers only finding and recovering deer wounded, or reasonably believed wounded, during lawful hunting. It does not authorize drone use for other activities. Rules must follow the state’s standard administrative rulemaking process. The law leaves operating details to the commission and adds no funding or penalties.
