Plate flipper users face seizure costs
The law took effect upon becoming law. Tennessee police may seize or impound vehicles with installed license plate flippers as evidence. Owners or drivers who are present must get a chance to promptly remove the flipper safely. Officers may direct them to move the vehicle to a designated spot for safe removal. Once removed, police may seize only the flipper as contraband, not the vehicle. If the vehicle is impounded, its owner pays towing and impoundment fees and reasonable flipper removal costs.
