Premium help for Tennessee National Guard members
Beginning July 1, 2025, Tennessee’s Military Department has a new TRICARE Premium Reimbursement Program for eligible National Guard members. Grants reimburse premiums for individual TRICARE Reserve Select health coverage, individual TRICARE Dental Program coverage, or both. Members must qualify for the relevant coverage and receive no health or dental insurance through a civilian employer. The adjutant general must publish program policies, and applicants must meet the application requirements. State reimbursement must stop for any premium portion later paid, reimbursed, or provided by the federal government. The law provides no funding; spending requires a specific appropriation in the General Assembly’s general appropriations act. No grant amount is set, and awards are not guaranteed.
