TennCare can cover Kleefstra syndrome care
The law allows TennCare to cover diagnosis, genetic testing, and treatment of Kleefstra syndrome for people enrolled in TennCare. Care must be medically necessary, with coverage matching care for autism, Down syndrome, and similar or related genetic disorders. Support can include early intervention and help with development and quality of life throughout a person's life. Services can include therapy, medicine, education, other treatment programs, clothing, devices, and equipment, but coverage is not guaranteed. TennCare's director can seek a federal waiver as needed to carry out this law.
