More buying options for Tennessee public agencies
The law expands shared purchasing options for Tennessee public agencies and took effect upon becoming law. Municipal utilities can buy operating materials, including pipes, meters, and transformers, through otherwise available shared purchasing agreements. This applies to agreements with the Tennessee Valley Authority and other purchasing arrangements. Local governments and public school agencies can buy materials, labor, and services for upkeep, operations, component replacement, and repairs. These purchases must serve existing facilities or grounds they own or operate. Both categories are excluded from the definitions of construction and construction materials under the shared purchasing restriction.
