Beginning July 1, 2025, hospitals and birthing centers in Tennessee must give mothers information about post-birth warning signs before discharge. When possible, they must also give the same information to the mother's caregiver or at least one family member. The materials must list warning signs, symptoms, and available resources for follow-up care. The Tennessee Department of Health provides standard materials to all facilities and posts them on its website.
