Tennessee now sets two state deadlines for district-run voluntary pre-K. Districts first enroll at-risk children who live in the area. By the start of the school year, districts must decide if seats remain and may enroll other eligible students. If seats are still open, a second window ends no later than 30 days after school starts. The law is in effect now. These enrollment rules apply starting with the 2025-2026 school year and every year after.
