Minors can get assault exams without parents

The law lets a minor who is the victim of a sexually oriented crime get a forensic medical exam without a parent or guardian’s consent. This applies even if another Tennessee law would normally require consent. The victim may receive the exam under Tennessee’s forensic exam law. This change takes effect immediately.
