Tennessee low-slope roofs face fewer energy rules
Beginning July 1, 2025, Tennessee's low-sloped roofs are exempt from certain rules on reflecting sunlight and releasing heat. These are the International Energy Conservation Code requirements in the International Code Council's 2021 adoption. The State Fire Marshal can issue rules under Tennessee's Uniform Administrative Procedures Act to carry out the law. Rulemaking authority took effect when the act became law.
