State help for Perry and Decatur hospitals
Effective upon becoming law, Tennessee recognizes Perry County Community Hospital in Linden and Decatur County General Hospital in Parsons as necessary healthcare providers. The law acknowledges that both served residents before January 1, 2006, and later closed. The Department of Health and Health Facilities Commission must help both hospitals seek federal critical access hospital status. They must coordinate with federal agencies to meet federal requirements, speed up the process, and secure benefits from that status. The law does not grant federal approval or create new funding, taxes, or fees.
