State backs Critical Access for two rural hospitals

The law names Perry County Community Hospital in Linden and Decatur County General Hospital in Parsons as necessary providers. It recognizes they served as necessary providers before they closed, including before 2006. The Tennessee Department of Health and the Health Facilities Commission must work with federal agencies to secure Critical Access Hospital status under federal law. This helps the hospitals qualify for cost-based Medicare payments and other support, keeping local emergency and inpatient care closer to home. The law takes effect upon becoming law.
