The law lets a charter county’s legislative body align school board elections with county legislative elections. It can require school board members to have successive terms when county legislators do. It can also apply the same term limits to school board members as to county legislators. This choice is optional and only for charter counties. It takes effect immediately, even if another state law says otherwise.
