The Rogersville board of mayor and aldermen can ask the county election commission to place questions on the town ballot. These votes are advisory and nonbinding. Questions must address matters of general and vital concern to the town. This authority takes effect only after a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the town’s legislative body, followed by a proclamation and certification to the secretary of state.
