Lauderdale County relocates and reorganizes courts

These court changes require approval by a two-thirds vote of Lauderdale County’s legislative body, certified to the Secretary of State. The County Commission must arrange an orderly move of the Probate and Juvenile Court, including judges, staff, and records, to the Justice Complex. That court closes immediately when its presiding judge’s full term ends. Probate cases and related clerk duties move to Chancery Court; juvenile cases and related clerk duties move to General Sessions Court. After approval and certification, the County Commission may transfer either set of clerk duties earlier.
