2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 0 costs, 2 mixed.

Lauderdale County must approve court changes

This law has no effect in Lauderdale County unless the county legislative body approves it by a two-thirds vote. The presiding officer must proclaim the result and certify it to the Tennessee Secretary of State. Without approval and certification, none of the court changes apply.

Lauderdale probate and juvenile cases move

After local approval and certification, the Lauderdale County Commission moves the Probate and Juvenile Court to the Justice Complex. The move includes judges, staff, files, and records. When the current judge’s full term ends, that court is dissolved. Probate cases and clerk duties go to the Chancery Court and its clerk. Juvenile cases and clerk duties go to the General Sessions Court and its clerk. The County Commission may shift those clerk duties earlier, after approval and certification.
