Gallatin city officers gain outside-work flexibility
The law removes Gallatin’s requirement that city officers devote all their time to their offices, except the city attorney. This allows part-time service or outside work, subject to other laws and city rules. The change takes effect only with approval by a two-thirds vote of the city’s legislative body. Its presiding officer must announce approval or rejection and certify the result to the Secretary of State. The law takes effect upon becoming law for purposes of local approval or rejection.
