Wayne County wheel tax ends if approved

This law repeals Wayne County’s local wheel tax, but only if the county legislative body approves it by a two-thirds (2/3) vote. The presiding officer must proclaim the result and certify it to the Tennessee secretary of state. The law is in effect now only so the county can vote; the repeal itself takes effect after approval and certification. Wayne County drivers stop paying the wheel tax once the repeal is approved and certified.
