Standard rules for county meetings

The law covers all counties, including metro or charter counties. It defines local rules of procedure as formal written rules for internal business. When a new county body is seated, the old rules stay in place as temporary rules. Within 90 days of convening, the body must adopt its rules by a majority vote. Changes during the same term after adoption need a two-thirds (2/3) vote. If the rules are silent, use the latest Robert’s Rules of Order. The law takes effect upon becoming law.
