No fee to close a nonprofit

Beginning July 1, 2026, nonprofit corporations pay no fee to file articles of termination with the Tennessee Secretary of State. This removes the prior termination filing fee.

Fundraisers must report when they stop

Beginning July 1, 2026, registered fundraisers who stop soliciting donations must act within 90 days. They must notify the Tennessee Secretary of State that they ended solicitation. They must also file the financial documents required for charitable solicitation under state law.
