Beginning July 1, 2026, a family child care home with a U.S. Department of Defense certificate under 32 CFR 79.6 does not need a Tennessee child care license. It also does not need a state licensing exemption. This applies only if the home serves eligible patrons as defined in 32 CFR 79.3. The rule covers family child care homes, not other provider types.
