Alarm rules clarified for managed IT firms

The law clarifies alarm-contractor rules for managed IT providers. A managed services provider is a tech business that manages and maintains a customer's IT systems. To qualify under this rule, the provider directly sells, installs, or maintains an internet-connected (IP) camera on its network. It also must get less than 25% of its gross annual revenue from those camera services and provide proof of employee vetting that the Commissioner accepts. Providers that offer monitoring services are not covered. The law takes effect immediately.
