Schools can keep a disciplinary investigation going even if a student withdraws. If that student later reenrolls in the same local education agency (LEA) or public charter school, the school may impose discipline under its policy using the earlier investigation's results. This applies only if the student left during an active investigation and then returns to the same LEA or charter school. The law is now in effect.
